My name is Ashley Slaney, and I am a multi-talented media professional.

I am currently in the second year of the journalism master's program at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. However, I don't consider myself a traditional reporter. I'm not the dogged reporter out to get the next big story. Instead, I'm the person who helps that reporter get his or her story to the public.

To that end, my journalism experience is primarily in copy-editing and web producing, with some print and broadcast reporting thrown in. I know AP style perhaps better than I know the back of my hand, a skill I picked up while working as a magazine copy editor for a year before graduate school. I can also edit photos and videos with the latest software, and I've begun the never-ending process of learning how to build websites with HTML and CSS. And I can beat even the most stubborn content-management system into submission with some HTML and some patience.

I also have a passion for human languages, particularly in the Romance family. I started learning Spanish in third grade and have picked up Italian and French since then. I love helping people bridge language barriers, written and spoken, and I hope to make translation and interpretation an increasingly large part of my journalistic work.

I hope you enjoy looking at my editing and repertorial work. And feel free to contact me if you would like to work with me. I look forward to hearing from you!
